IN THIS HOUSE, OUR HOME
Bring your culture. Share your story. Help shape our home.
A two-year, youth-led creative program bringing young people together across cultures, faiths, identities and lived experiences.
At the Think+DO Tank Foundation Community House in Fairfield, young people can make, move, write, perform, gather and lead. It is a place to meet beyond familiar circles, express who you are and help create a community where everyone can feel safe, seen and valued.
Come as you are. Bring a friend. Find your way to take part.
Upcoming Activities
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
A shared home, shaped by young people
Young people across Fairfield and Liverpool live multiculturalism every day. They move between languages, cultures, faiths, families, neighbourhoods and identities—and many understand personally what it means to experience racism, religious discrimination, homophobia, transphobia or xenophobia.
They have also told us clearly that they want to be part of the solution.
IN THIS HOUSE, OUR HOME gives young people the space, relationships and practical support to come together across difference. Through creativity, storytelling and youth-led gatherings, participants build connection, develop empathy and create new ways to stand together against hate and division.
Young people are not simply invited to attend. They help decide what happens, how the space works and what the program shares with the wider community.
Three ways to participate
QUEER HEROES
Move. Make. Express. Belong.
Queer Heroes is an identity-affirming creative program centring queer, trans and questioning young people across Fairfield and Liverpool.
Participants will explore movement, vogue and costuming with Kit-Wu Bylett, Xander Khoury and Fetu Taku, alongside sound, performance, storytelling, multilingual writing and zine-making. The program also creates opportunities to connect with queer artists, activists, mentors and elders whose creative practices and lived experiences offer different ways to explore identity, culture and belonging.
Open cultural democracy gatherings, informed by TDTF’s haṣīra practice, will create space for conversation, listening, creativity and exchange.
Queer Heroes recognises that nobody holds just one identity. Culture, faith, language, family, gender, sexuality and lived experience overlap and shape how each person enters a space.
Queer, trans and questioning young people are at the heart of the program. Selected gatherings will also welcome friends, families, loved ones and allies, creating opportunities for understanding and connection around the young people we care about.
YOUTH STORYTELLING
Your language. Your story. Your way of telling it.
Youth Storytelling brings young people from across Fairfield and Liverpool together to explore culture, identity, belonging and the places they call home.
Through multilingual creative writing, oral storytelling, performance and zine-making, participants can tell stories in the languages, voices and creative forms that feel right to them. No previous writing or performance experience is required—just something you want to say, explore, remember or imagine.
Stories developed through the program may be shared at bilingual events at the TDTF Community House and through Community in Motion outreach. These events create opportunities for broader audiences to hear young people’s experiences of difference, connection and shared aspiration.
Young people choose what they want to share, how they want to share it and whether they are ready to share it publicly.
Write it. Speak it. Perform it. Share it your way.
YOUTH-CURATED GATHERINGS
Your people. Your ideas.
A gathering might take shape through music, food, art, performance, conversation, celebration—or something we have not thought of yet. Each one creates an opportunity to meet beyond familiar circles and build relationships across cultures, faiths, identities, neighbourhoods and experiences.
This is youth self-determination in practice: young people deciding what matters, who should be involved and how a welcoming community space should feel.
Bring an idea. Bring a friend. Help make the next gathering happen.
